Western People West Of Ireland Women’s Mini Marathon
‘The Western People West of Ireland Women’s Mini Marathon takes place at the Mall Castlebar on Sunday April 30th. This is the 8th annual event with over 2500 participants expected to take part. So far the mini marathon has raised over 1.7million for charities. Last years Mini Marathon(10k) was won by Sinead Divers in who travelled to her native Mayo from Australia to participate.
She and our Mini Marathon Ambassador Sonia O’Sullivan added greatly to a superb day. Walkers, Joggers and Runners all take to the streets on mini marathon Sunday in what is a wonderful celebration for women and is a flagship event for the organisers Mayo Sports Partnership. The mini marathon also takes place on Mayo Day and so Castlebar is definitely the place to be for the weekend celebrations. This year Mayo Day celebrates our French connections with music, fun and entertainment on mini marathon day. Directly after the start of the mini marathon, we hold a Mini Mini.
This is a primary school children’s fun run. Over 800 children took part in this spectacle last year. So all roads lead to Castlebar on Sunday, April 30th( Bank Holiday weekend).
