A number of Irish athletes are in action tonight across Europe as the Track and Field season gathers pace.

Robinson holds the fastest PB out of those entered, his 1.45.86 goes back to July 2013 a summer in which he competed at the World Championships in the event. The following year Robinson finished fourth in the 1500m at the European Athletics Championships. He is now part of the Dublin Track Club and has started his season well running 3.57.88 for the Mile a couple of weeks ago at the Night of 10k PB’s meet in Highgate, London. Robinson’s race gets underway at 6.35pm Irish time.

Fellow Dublin Track Club athlete Andrew Coscoran (Star of the Sea AC) is in action over 1500m tonight at the Meeting Iberoamericano in Huelva, near Seville in Spain. Coscoran had a fantastic 2021 reaching the semi-finals of the Olympic Games and will have his eyes firmly set on the upcoming World and European Championships in July and August. His Season’s Best for the distance is 3.38.64 set in the US three weeks ago. The race gets underway at 7.20pm.

Georgie Hartigan (Dundrum South Dublin AC) is in action in the Women’s 800m. Hartigan ran the 800m B race at the Diamond League meet in Birmingham last weekend running 2.05.11 and has an impressive 4.09.87 time to her name over 1500m this season putting her 12th on the Irish all-time list for the distance.

Two Irish sprint hurdlers are in action also at the ‘24. Internationles Leichtathletikeeting “Anhalt 2022″’ meeting this evening near Leipzig in Germany. Tokyo Olympian and World Indoor finalist Sarah Lavin (Emerald AC) has the quickest PB amongst those on the start list of 12.95s set last summer. Last Wednesday in Italy, Lavin got her season underway with her fastest ever opener clocking 13.11.

Kate Doherty (Dundrum South Dublin AC) is also entered. Doherty moved to fourth on the Irish All-Time list for the 100m Hurdles on Sunday when she ran a time of 13.45s at the National League in Belfast and will be looking to build on that impressive performance this evening.

The heats get underway at 6.15pm Irish time with the final scheduled for 7.10pm Irish time.

This evening sees the start of a busy week for Irish track and field athletes with 150 expected to compete outside Ireland between now and Sunday in ten different countries.
