Hoka Clifton 9 Review

Introduction:

Hoka Clifton 9s are a Neutral runner. They are a very comfortable, well cushioned shoe. They are designed for everyday running and have an extra 3mm in height when compared with the Clifton 8s.

Testing Experience

I am a Personal Trainer and a Marathon runner. I have completed 3 marathons, and I am now training for my fourth, The Dublin Marathon. I have tested out a few different runners within my training, and I recently tested out the Clifton 9s on a few of my runs, and I am definitely a fan.

I really enjoyed running in the Clifton 9s. I find that the cushioning helps to absorb impact and reduce fatigue during my longer runs. I use these runners for long runs and also for some of my easier runs.

In terms of fitting, the Cliftons don’t feel too narrow in a regular width and they fit true to size on most people who try them.

Midsole

Light EVA midsole vs moulded EVA midsole compared to Clifton 8s.

Upper

The upper of the Clifton has been tweaked and updated to provide a more secure and comfortable fit. The engineered mesh material is soft and flexible. The tongue of the shoe has been redesigned to be thinner and breathable, which will reduce discomfort.

Outsole

Durable outsole. The rubber in the outsole provides traction and longevity.

Verdict

I would definitely recommend the Hoka Clifton 9s to any runner, particularly marathon runners. Overall, they are a very comfortable, cushioned, and versatile shoe. They are an ideal runner for everyday running with their lightweight designed and maximalist cushioning, making them a great option for long distance running, or for those who are training for a marathon.
