Limerick Schools Inclusive Sports Day

Congratulations to all the Limerick schools and pupils who took part in the second annual Limerick Schools Inclusive Sports Day on May 9th in UL Sports Arena.

Mayor of Limerick Gerald Mitchell officially opened the event congratulating Olympian Thomas Barr on his recent World Athletics Relays bronze medal in the Bahamas. The pupils prepared their own ‘congratulations’ posters as well and had a fun day challenging Thomas to race with them.

Fellow World Relays bronze medalist Sharlene Mawdsley, who was training on the track for the upcoming European Athletics Championships and Olympic, took time out from her session to chat with many at the track.

Graham Rowntree and John Hodnett of Munster Rugby and Colin Coughlan of the Limerick hurling team also came along to support the athletes.

A huge thank you to Niall Shanahan who organised the event with funding and support from Athletics Ireland.

Thanks also to Limerick Sports Partnership for all their continued support, to the TY students from Castletroy College and local coaches from Dooneen AC, UL AC, BMOH AC, Limerick AC and Emerald AC.
