Introduction: Brooks Glycerin 21, synonymous for comfort and cushioning.

When Brooks ask the question: “Do you ever wish that the sidewalk was a little softer and that running felt more like floating?” it’s clearly because they’ve found the perfect answer with the new Glycerin 21. The new 2024 model is, like its predecessor Glycerin 20, big on comfort and cushioning. However, it has some new tricks up its sleeve – a newly engineered warp knit upper, RoadTack rubber outsole and an additional 2mm nitrogen-infused DNA Loft v3 cushioning underfoot; making it Brooks’ most cushioned running shoe yet. Curious? Let’s take a closer look…

Midsole: 2mm extra DNA Loft v3 nitrogen infused soft midsole cushioning technology provide a comfortable and cushioned ride.
The midsole features Brooks’ latest technology in soft midsole cushioning – the DNA Loft v3. And not only that – the midsole height has been increased by 2mm to 28mm at the heel and 18mm at the forefoot, compared to the previous model Glycerin 20. This increase in cushioning makes the Glycerin 21 Brooks’ plushiest ride yet, however, without being too soft or mushy. This type of midsole also has a more ‘bouncy’ feel to it, however, with the purpose of the shoe being distance, rather than top speed. Overall, this midsole sets the standard for a premium comfort and cushioning experience

Upper: A comfortable, flexible and soft engineered warp knit upper that is breathable and feels supportive.

Another new addition is the engineered warp knit upper. The comfortable, flexible and soft material is breathable and feels supportive, hugging the top of the foot in all the right places. The fit is roomy, leaving space for wriggle room in the toebox. The tongue is well padded, which adds to the cushioned, comfortable feel of the shoes and avoids uncomfortable pressure from the laces. The heel collar has a good amount of padding and is low-rise, while also presenting a sturdy heel counter. Another bonus is that recycled materials were used in the upper.

Outsole: Wide footprint and near-full-coverage featuring Roadtack rubber which is resilient and lightweight, promising durability and stability.

The re-designed outsole provides a widened platform for greater stability and near-full-coverage, promoting a smooth heel-to-toe transition. The Glycerin 21 is also the first model to feature the new Roadtack rubber which is a resilient and lightweight compound made using a mix of rubber and recycled silica. Without being overbearing, the outsole rubber contributes to the shoes’ stability, while still retaining a fair amount of flexibility and also promising durability against wear and tear. The shoe feels reliable on pavements of all conditions, making it a strong year-rounder.

Verdict: A comfortable shoe that is dependable and provides soft cushioning, support and stability. Built for comfortable miles, promising durability and stability. Highly recommended.

A comfortable, plush shoe that was built for easy, comfortable miles and long distances rather than speed sessions. It is reliable and boasts soft premium cushioning, support and stability, making you feel like the sidewalk DID just get a little softer. The high step-in comfort, impact protection thanks to the extra cushioning and promising durability are just some of the features that make this a highly recommended shoe. True to size with a roomy fit. Brooks offer the Glycerin 21 in both classic and StealthFit configurations as well as wide fit. Also available with go-to-support (GTS) via the GuideRails® technology.
