Sarah Lavin’s sensational season continued in Stockholm this evening, with the Limerick athlete clocking a personal best of 12.73 seconds in the 100m hurdles to finish second behind world record holder and reigning world champion Tobi Amusan in the seventh leg of the Diamond League.
Lavin’s previous lifetime best of 12.79 was set at last summer’s European Championships in Munich.
Last week, the 29-year-old bagged bronze in the event at the European Games in a time of 12.82.
Racing from disadvantageous lane one on a wet track at the Olympic Stadium and despite toppling the final hurdle, Lavin took some notable scalps, including that of European champion Pia Skrzyszowska back in third.
Derval O’Rourke’s national record of 12.65 is now firmly in the sights of the Emerald AC star..
Ciara Mageean finished an excellent fourth behind a trio of Ethiopian competitors in the 1500m.
Mageean recorded a time of four minutes 3.46 seconds as Freweyni Hailu crossed the line first in 4:02.31.
